Reassurance: What Do the Black Dots in the Non-Activated CDSplus Bottle Mean?
Quality and purity are the top priorities at AQUARIUS pro life. Occasionally, however, we receive a concerned question from attentive customers: “In my not-yet-activated CDSplus bottle, I can see small black specks in the powder – is the product contaminated or has it gone bad?”
This question has now reached us 2–3 times through our support team – and we take it very seriously, because we know that such a sight can be alarming at first glance. That is why we would like to explain this rare case in detail and transparently here, so that you are fully informed and can use your product with complete peace of mind.
In this article, we get to the bottom of the matter and explain why this observation is absolutely no cause for concern.
What Exactly Is CDSplus?
To understand the black dots, one must briefly look at the design of our patented CDSplus. Unlike conventional solutions, it is a two-component system:
- The liquid component: A special buffer.
- The solid component: A tablet (the activator)
Only by adding the tablet to the liquid component and allowing the subsequent reaction time does the highly pure chlorine dioxide (ClO2) form, which is then bound in the water.
Where Do the Dark Particles Come From?
The small black or dark specks that you can sometimes see in the dry state (before activation) have two primary causes, both of which are technical in nature:
1. Natural Mineral Companions
The activator in our CDSplus products is based on highly pure salts and minerals. As with many natural raw materials of pharmaceutical quality, it can happen that individual crystals or mineral inclusions exhibit a darker colouration. This is a purely optical phenomenon and does not affect the chemical purity of the subsequent ClO2 gas in any way.
2. The Bottle Manufacturing Process
Our glass bottles are produced under high temperatures. In rare cases, tiny carbon particles (soot) or microscopically small abrasion residues from the manufacturing process may remain inside the bottle. Since our products are extremely pure, such tiny dark specks naturally stand out immediately against the light-coloured powder mixture.
Why Quality Is Not Affected
It is important to understand how activation works: during the reaction between the tablet and the liquid, the chlorine dioxide gas is released and dissolved in the liquid.
- No effect on efficacy: These tiny particles are chemically inert. This means they do not react with the active ingredient and do not alter its concentration or effectiveness.
- Purity of the final product: After activation and the recommended waiting time, the result is a standardised, highly pure solution. The tiny particles – if present at all – remain at the bottom or dissolve in the buffer solution without affecting the purity of the chlorine dioxide.
